THE ART AND THE ARTIST
Crochet is an art form that is slowly coming back. Since it is handmade, we are free to choose a color, size, and materials we want. M Got Hooked aims to create pieces of clothing and other items that are everyday staple and would last long. Wanting to have less negative impact to the environment, we make sure to use natural fibers, and as much as possible, locally-sourced.Wearing or using a crocheted item is like having a piece of art on or with you. What a wonderful thing to experience!Hi! I am M, the artist and educator behind M Got Hooked. I design wardrobe staple crocheted garments, write beginner-friendly crochet patterns, collaborate with other local artists/groups, and facilitate crochet workshops..Come and join me as I traverse through the world of arts, crafts, and everything in between.Keep on creating!

STORY BEHIND THE NAME AND LOGO
Everything has a story behind them, and the name and logo for MGotHooked is no different. This stems down even before I picked my yarn and hook up again. My first online presence was not with the art of crocheting. I was initially more into digital art, under M.Creates. But when I got back to this craft last 2021, I instantly got hooked. Hence, I decided to make a separate account for my crochet journey. Back then, I was not planning nor expecting that I'll get serious with it. But here we are now.
CROCHET WRITTEN PATTERNS
Hello, Fellow Crafters! These are the crochet pieces I designed and written a pattern for, so far! If you are interested, you may purchase them through Ko-fi or direct payment. If you wish to pay via direct payment, kindly fill out the order form below.
MONICA
This is my first-ever free pattern!
Monica Asymmetrical Top may be made with or without a sleeve, so whichever you prefer, go for it!Will this be part of your wardrobe soon?
MELISSA
Why choose between comfort and style when you can have both? Melissa vest is a style on trend yet timeless at the same time! The vest is worked sideways, in a continuous manner. With this method, there will be no side seaming, so less ends to weave in!
Rayla
Rayla is a 4-way romper, which may be worn as an off-shoulder, with a yoke cape, as assymetrical, or tube. If you are into multi-way pieces of clothing, then this project is perfect for you!
MARTHA
Another comfy coord has been added to our list of comfy clothes! Martha Coord consists of a buttondown shirt and shorts with front pockets. Since we can pair the top and shorts with other pieces of clothing, this is such awesome addition to a minimalist wardrobe!
MARISE
Marise is a very basic wardrobe staple! This may be made as a tee or long-sleeved top. The length is also very easy to customize! Consider Marise as a blank canvas, where you can experiment with different yarn size and color! This is super easy to make. Definitely a beginner-friendly piece.
RAMONA
Ramona is a two-way shorts. The top part and suspenders may be removed, so this can be worn as a jumper or just as shorts alone. There are pockets at the back and in the front top.
MERIDETH
The design for Merideth was highly inspired by children's dresses! Picture out a dress with puffed sleeves, lacy collar, back zipper, and waist tie. Haha This was my project for my Just One challenge, so I used Just One yarn cake, Just One hook size, and Just One stitch for the first top prototype.
REESE
Reese is a skort (shorts + skirt) with a garter at the back part of the waistband. The flap connects to the shorts with a tie. A special feature of this skort is its secret pocket, where bills, IDs, cards, or a mobile phone may be stored.
Renée
This is a project which I almost gave up on. But thanks to my (stubborn haha) mother, I ended up giving it a chance to be reborn, hence the name, Renée. This written pattern includes instructions for both a top and a dress (with POCKETS!).
MATILDA
This is my first-ever crochet written pattern. Matilda Co-Ord was designed to be loungey and breathable, to keep us comfortable wherever we are. The shorts has side pockets on both sides, ideal for storing small objects (or our awkward hands haha).
OFF THE HOOK: A CROCHET JOURNAL
OTH (Off the Hook) is a digital crochet journal. It contains various pages to help us keep track of our stash, project notes and creative ideas. It also has clickable buttons, which will surely make navigating through the journal easier.

THE NAME
I take names and the meaning/story behind them seriously, so it took me a while before I settled with MGotHooked.M came from my nickname, Mima. I decided to include it so I will still have a piece of M.Creates in it. Hihi. Got Hooked, on the other hand, has a double meaning. First is hook as a noun, the main tool used when crocheting. Second is hooked as a verb, the act of getting hooked to the craft!
THE LOGO
Making the logo was another thing. Since I initially made MGotHooked as an extension of M.Creates, I decided to derive my logo from M.Creates' logo as well.
Then I did just what the name, MGotHooked, suggests. I made the M in the logo be literally get hooked Haha. This was my first MGotHooked logo:
The hook there was just a random-looking wooden hook, so I later changed it into something that looks like the one I used to often use, a bamboo-handled hook.
As of writing, I have been using a different hook again, but I decided to keep this one here because this was the kind of hook that was with me at the beginning. I did update my logo though to make it reflect my branding more. It is now simpler and neater!
The fun doesn't end here! The "M" in my logos is not just a regular M. When you flip it upside down, it would actually spell the word...
And that's it! I hope you enjoyed learning about the story behind MGotHooked's logo and name. If you wish to share your story, feel free to leave me a message or connect with me through my socials. Stay safe and sane!
